Craft on Draft is a reading series devoted to great fiction—and the mechanics behind it. Three authors read and discuss their work, plus that of one lucky audience member. So grab a drink, a page of your own writing, and come craft your own draft.

Craft on Draft Taps New Reading Series

Craft on Draft taps the keg on its new reading series April 8 with its first event, FIRST PAGES: BEFORE AND AFTER. Join us as our all-star lineup Henriette Lazaridis Power, Lisa Borders, and Stephanie Gayle share their novel openings, both their first drafts and the final results. They’ll tell us how they started, where they ended up and why, and all the editing decisions in between.

They’ll then turn their attention to your writing! One entry will be selected from the audience for our authors to read aloud and discuss. This lucky winner will receive a free GrubStreet pint glass and a drink, purchased by our own Michelle Hoover—as well as possible love, wealth, and fame. If you want to get in on the action, BYO first page of a short story or novel (maximum 250 words).

Come join us at Trident Booksellers Tuesday, April 8. Doors open at 6:30pm. Reading begins at 7pm sharp!

Craft on Draft was started by graduates of GrubStreet’s Novel Incubator program, a year-long intensive workshop that helps writers craft their novels.
